Model United Nations – De La Salle

Model United Nations

Thirteen students from De La Salle Macroom have put on their suits and are en route to Davis College Mallow to participate in the Model United Nations event today.

The Model United Nations (MUN) is one of the most popular academic extra-curricular activities undertaken worldwide. It challenges students of all abilities and improves a range of skills needed for life. Essentially MUN simulates the United Nations General Assembly and Security Council. Students represent countries and speak and work on behalf of those countries in relation to a selection of pre decided issues e.g. Climate change. Students write clauses and resolutions that will tackle, resolve or minimise problems in that area, they may speak publicly to delegates and may need to cooperate with other delegates in order to garner support for their point of view. Students have worked tirelessly to research information, draw together resolutions and practice presenting their speeches. The students have shown great dedication and put in commendable effort into all of their work over the past few months. The event will allow these brilliant students to showcase their talents.
