Senior Cycle French

Transition year

Transition Year students have the opportunity to participate in a French exchange with our sister De La Salle School in Bordeaux France. This exchange is one of the longest running school exchanges in Ireland and we are very proud of this tradition in De Le Salle Macroom. The benefit of spending 10 days in the home of a French family, totally immersed in the target language cannot be over stated. Lifelong friendships have been forged and students have happy memories of their experiences.

5th year / 6th year

Traditionally we have a strong uptake of French as a senior level subject and the majority of students would take French at Higher Level for the Leaving Certificate and achieve high grades. Senior French students have the benefit of five classes of French per week. Classes are based around listening, reading, speaking and writing. Students are supported in achieving competency to express themselves orally and in writing and to become independent learners
