Irish is offered at both Higher and Ordinary level to Junior Cert students in De La Salle. Traditionally grades are high and students predominately sit the Higher level for their Junior Cert exam.
Over the course of the three years students develop their skills in both written competency and spoken fluency and are encouraged to actively participate in class and develop their love of Irish in a student centred approach, engaging in class activities such as pair-work and group work.
At Junior cycle, students have 4 classes a week in Irish in First year and 5 class periods for Second and Third years students.
Students also actively participate in Seachtain na Gaeilge activities in March every year. These activities include quizzes, Irish dancing, treasure hunts and various other Irish based competitions.
