Science essentially deals with knowledge and understanding of our world. The study of science is concerned with the understanding of a body of scientific knowledge and the development of scientific skills through practical activities. It contributes to the development of logical thinking and reasoning, and skills of observation, measurement, interpretation, numeracy, problem solving and decision making. We aim to foster a love for discovery and curiosity in each of our students.
Arising out of their experience in the junior cycle, it is hoped that many students will be encouraged to study one or more of the science subjects in the senior cycle, thus preparing themselves for further study or work in this area. The four science subjects available in the Leaving Certificate are: agricultural science (offered after school), biology, chemistry, physics.
There are five Science Teachers in De La Salle College : Ms. Dunne, Mr. Walsh, Mr Lynch, Mr. Murphy and Mr. Cott.
