Our school tours involve visiting both France and Italy with first year, second year and fourth year students having the opportunity to travel during their time at De La Salle College.
The Bordeaux/French exchange programme
De La Salle College for the past 25 years has had an annual exchange programme with a sister De La Salle College in Bordeaux, French.
The fourth and second year students have the opportunity to spend up to two weeks in Bordeaux with a host family where they can improve their French and learn about the French way of life.
The students attend school in Bordeaux and attend several day trips. The weekends are usually spent with the host family where they will be treated as any other member of the family.
The school is very proud of this long running exchange programme which is in fact the longest school exchange programme in Ireland. The return of the French students to the host families is always greatly looked forward to by the school and the wider community of Macroom.
The Marcello Con Cassone/Italy exchange programme
For the past 12 years De La Salle College has run an exchange programme with the Italian town of Marcello Con Cassone which is in Northern Italy near Milan. Our first year students are usually accommodated in houses in pairs which helps with the settling in process.
The Irish students usually travel to Italy in April while the Italians arrive in Ireland earlier in the spring. Some of the highlights of the trip include a trip to the amusements park in Gardaland and the San Siro Stadium in Milan.
