Presidential Election

The De La Salle Students were re-electing Michael D. Higgins as President of Ireland as early as Thursday evening. The students voted in the mock election organised by the student council in the school on Thursday. Congratulations to fourth year student Tom Downey who has been selected to compete for a place in the Science Olympiad team of Ireland for Maths and Science.Tom will travel to Dublin next weekend to take part in the selection process. Those selected to take part are chosen on the basis of their results in Maths and Science in the Junior Certificate....

Geography Transition Year trip

Our Fourth Year Geography Students enjoyed a glorious day at Banna Strand near Tralee on Tuesday as they carried out a number of investigations along the shoreline. The students were accompanied by Mr McCarthy and Ms Hallisseey.

Well done Robert O'Donovan and Caolan Murphy for receiving the prestigious Bronze Medal in the Gaisce Awards. The fifth year students undertook the challanges required to receive the award during their Transition Year.

First year bonding day at Ballyhass

Our first year eagerly awaited bonding day at Ballyhass Adventure Centre in Mallow took place on Tuesday. A total of 54 students enjoyed a day of laughter, fun and chat. The students were accompanied by their class teachers Mr John Ryan and Mr Conor Kinsella.

Under 15 Munster Football Championship

Hard Luck to Under 15’s who were beaten today in the Under15 B Munster Championship. Despite missing a few players through injury and club commitments the lads fought all the way to the bitter end.

It is with great sadness that we are informing you of the sudden death of our esteemed colleague Mr Pat Gould. His passing will leave a huge void in our close-knit school community. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this very sad time. Ar dheis Dé go ráibh a anam.

4th years climb Carrauntoohil

Well done to our Transition Year students for showing great determination on a cold and miserable day and climb to the top of Carrauntoohill. The students were accompanied by Mr Murphy and Mr Fleming.

A sincere thanks to all our students who came along on a wet miserable night to make our open night 2018 a great success.We all appreciate the boys giving their valuable insight to new students and their parents about life in De La Salle College.

Reminder that the De La Salle College open night takes place this Thursday, September 20 between 5 and 8pm. We look forward to seeing you all there.

Sixth year geography field trip

Our sixth year Geography students had a very educational and enjoyable day out in Killarney on Friday where they took part in their annual field trip. The students were accompanied by Geography teachers Mr Daniel McCarthy and Ms Helen O'Sullivan.

A fantastic response by students and parents yielded a huge bonus for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Christmas hamper appeal, with an impressive amount of non-perishable food being collected. Presentation to Steven Bradley

A presentation was made to Steven Bradley in front of his classmates this morning to mark his being honoured with the Garda Special Youth Achievement award. Steven is off to Portugal tomorrow to compete in the IWAS games - good luck! - and unfortunately will miss the gala ceremony in the Riverside Hotel tomorrow night where all the Youth Achievement awards...

Yet another Simcox Final Appearance!

Past pupil receives U.C.C. Scholarships

Cross country runners do well!

Our junior cross country runners did well in Riverstick today, with Ramon Gasper from 3rd year finishing 10th overall and Ben O'Connell coming first in the second Year sub-section.The 2nd and 3rd Years who took part in the cork schools's cross country.
