In recent times, the school has branched out in its extra-curricular activities and embraced the worlds of drama and debating.

Christmas pantos, staged either in the school hall or the Briery Gap, have been roaring successes with students, parents and the public alike:

"Mrs. Jigglebottom", 2012

"Treasure Ireland", 2009

The school  has had several victories in schools' drama competitions, including the prestigious Cork Schools' Shakespearean competition. These plays include Macbeth and two separate versions of the enterprisingly named "The most lamentable tragedy of the desperate housewives and their fellas like", a modern take on Othello.
